Tuscan Salmon with Coconut Basil Sauce

Okay, so this Tuscan Salmon with Coconut Basil Sauce was seriously fun to make. And fun to photograph with my new DSLR!

I’ve still got a lot of learning to do with this new piece of equipment, but some of the pictures turned out pretty dang well (although, let’s face it, I’m probably going to retake pictures once I get more practice). I haven’t had a ton of time to play around with my camera, but now that I’ve moved and I have more space for fun hobbies like this, the learning curve will be drastic.

Admittedly, I haven’t posted a recipe in a while. I hope this one makes up for it. I seriously miscalculated how much time and energy moving would suck out of me. We’ve been living at the new (totally awesome) apartment for a little over a week now, and the creativity and motivation is just starting to trickle in again.

Butter Coffee and Beyond – ALL The Exciting News

Hello, friends! I have so much news, it’s simply too much for a text. I insist that we get together for coffee. Butter coffee, to be more specific.

So grab a cup and fix it how you like it. I’ll be having mine with a pinch of cacao and maca – my preferred blend of the moment. Let’s sit down and chat.

Chocolate Cherry Almond Butter Blondies

Chocolate Cherry Almond Butter Blondies

It’s an exciting time in my life, so why not share an exciting recipe like these chocolate cherry almond butter blondies?

I don’t make many desserts anymore, instead focusing my attentions on quality cooking. Paleo baking is a lot more difficult than traditional baking, and I’m just not as good at baking as I am at cooking. Still, I’ve been obsessed with the chocolate/cherry combo lately (and it’s not even cherry season yet!), and I was daydreaming about the fudgy denseness of a good brownie or blondie…so these happened.

And I’m super glad they did.

PR Attempt Motivation - CrossFit, Lifting

If You Failed A PR Attempt Today, You Need To Read This

I’m writing this after back squat 1RM day. I shared a bar with one of my beloved coaches. I crushed it. I happily got a 10# PR. My coach, on the other hand, tried and failed 3 attempts. She was crushed, almost to tears. I’m unskilled at these situations, so I didn’t say much other than “it’s all right, you’ll get it next time”. But I can’t shake the urge to say more. Here’s everything I wish I would have said – something motivational, inspirational, about CrossFit and lifting. Perhaps it will lift you up. I need to hear this on occasion, too.

And you are not defined by the weight on that bar.

It sucks that you didn’t get your PR. No one would be happy in that situation. Need to cry about it? Then cry. That’s fine – no shame. This sport is emotional.

But don’t, not even for a second, beat yourself up about it. Don’t put yourself down. Don’t degrade yourself. You are so much better than that. You’re awesome.
