Madi’s Chai Banana Smoothie

Every autumn, I fall head-over-heels for foods and flavors that stereotypically fit the season – squash, sage, clove, chai. So even before tasting this creamy banana chai smoothie, I knew I would love it simply because it showcases one of my favorite spice blends.

I can’t take full credit for this recipe. I typically don’t follow recipes for smoothies; instead, I throw a banana and whatever I can scrounge up from the fridge in a blender and if it tastes decent, I consider it a success. One recent evening, my brilliant best friend, Madi, texted the recipe for a chai banana smoothie that she came up with. Everything was already in my pantry, so I set out to make it the next day…before I knew it, I was telling my genius girlfriend how amazing she is and begged her to let me share the recipe on my blog. Of course, Madi agreed because she’s a peach.

Grain-Free Pumpkin Walnut Porridge | DoYouEvenPaleo.net

Grain-Free Pumpkin Walnut Porridge

Sometimes comfort trumps convenience and habit. I have a handful of other recipes I planned on sharing before this grain-free pumpkin walnut porridge, but this recipe just seemed to fit the theme of the past few weeks much better so I bumped it up in the queue.

Typical porridge isn’t a paleo food – traditional recipes use grains as the base. Of course, though, the paleo world has come up with a way around that so those of us who avoid grains can still enjoy a comforting, warm bowl of porridge for breakfast. And many of them, like this version, is still pretty dang nutritious – always a bonus.

Last week left me begging for comfort food.

I’m going to be honest – it was one helluva week.

Plantain, Bacon, and Kale Hash

What’s the ideal way to start your day?

Some might start a debate between pancakes and waffles (newsflash: there will never be a winner). Some might pine over a bowl of oatmeal. Some might dive into a monologue about the ideal muffin.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

The best morning meal has got to be a good breakfast hash.*

*Note: this is based entirely on my own personal opinion. You can think whatever you want.

Well…a good breakfast hash and a strong cup of light roast coffee. This recipe for plantain, bacon, and kale hash will get you halfway there.

3-Ingredient Sweet Plantain Cake

3-Ingredient Sweet Plantain Cake

The plantain obsession is real.

I must sound like your friend who just joined CrossFit, because I won’t shut up about plantains lately.

After posting my highly successful plantain patty recipe (seriously, y’all love those patties as much as I do), I knew I needed to do more with plantains, so I came up with a coconut chapo plantain juice and this amazing 3-ingredient sweet plantain cake.

Only 3 ingredients, you ask? Yes, of course, because I’m all about making recipes as simplistic as possible!

Buffalo Chicken Sweet Potato Egg Bake

Buffalo Chicken Sweet Potato Egg Bake

I’ve got to apologize in advance that I don’t have more to say today. I’m writing this post quickly before leaving on my vacation and scheduling it for later. Hopefully you understand why I’m in a rush!

I created this recipe a looong time ago while experimenting with leftovers and egg bakes. Like many of my early creations, I didn’t write down the recipe and therefore completely forgot I had made such a thing (even if it was totally delicious). That is, until someone going through my old Instagram photos (from over a year ago) asked for the recipe and I realized I didn’t have it.

Remembering how awesome it was, I decided I’d better test it again and post the recipe this time!
