The mâche story

Much like my adventures with kohlrabi, mâche showed up in the early weeks of my CSA share.

It was right about the time I felt like I was going to be drowning in salads for the duration of the CSA…there was absolutely no light at the end of the tunnel – I was destined to eat just salad for weeks and the burden of that might just do me in. You see, there was just so much lettuce at first! As a meat and potatoes kind of girl, I didn’t think I would survive so many boring-ass salads.

Mâche saved my salad-heavy meal rut. Luckily, I also realized that salads could be a lot more creative than just lettuce and dressing. But seriously, mâche is awesome.

I’ve been meaning to post a crockpot pulled pork recipe for a long time. I probably could have posted one waaaaaay back when I first started this blog…but the problem is, I tend to make up my dry-rub mix on the fly and never write it down.

Even when I did write it down, I didn’t know how to take a pretty picture of pulled pork. Not with my phone camera, anyway.

Well, things change. Now, I have a DSLR. And even though pulled pork wasn’t on my “recipe ideas” list…

I made pulled pork for a big housewarming taco party (along with 2 other kinds of meat), I wrote down the recipe as I made it, and I got rave reviews and compliments on the pork. My partner’s dad has asked me to make it again every time I’ve seen him since.

Okay, so this Tuscan Salmon with Coconut Basil Sauce was seriously fun to make. And fun to photograph with my new DSLR!

I’ve still got a lot of learning to do with this new piece of equipment, but some of the pictures turned out pretty dang well (although, let’s face it, I’m probably going to retake pictures once I get more practice). I haven’t had a ton of time to play around with my camera, but now that I’ve moved and I have more space for fun hobbies like this, the learning curve will be drastic.

Admittedly, I haven’t posted a recipe in a while. I hope this one makes up for it. I seriously miscalculated how much time and energy moving would suck out of me. We’ve been living at the new (totally awesome) apartment for a little over a week now, and the creativity and motivation is just starting to trickle in again.

Yesterday was my birthday (!!!) and I’ve decided that all of you deserve a gift…in the form of these Thai Curry Chicken Wings! They’re awesome. So finger-licking good.

I knew I would be sharing the recipe for these wings the minute I bit into them. They’re just that delicious.
