Dry-Rubbed Crockpot Pulled Pork

I’ve been meaning to post a crockpot pulled pork recipe for a long time. I probably could have posted one waaaaaay back when I first started this blog…but the problem is, I tend to make up my dry-rub mix on the fly and never write it down.

Even when I did write it down, I didn’t know how to take a pretty picture of pulled pork. Not with my phone camera, anyway.

Well, things change. Now, I have a DSLR. And even though pulled pork wasn’t on my “recipe ideas” list…

I made pulled pork for a big housewarming taco party (along with 2 other kinds of meat), I wrote down the recipe as I made it, and I got rave reviews and compliments on the pork. My partner’s dad has asked me to make it again every time I’ve seen him since.

Tuscan Salmon with Coconut Basil Sauce

Okay, so this Tuscan Salmon with Coconut Basil Sauce was seriously fun to make. And fun to photograph with my new DSLR!

I’ve still got a lot of learning to do with this new piece of equipment, but some of the pictures turned out pretty dang well (although, let’s face it, I’m probably going to retake pictures once I get more practice). I haven’t had a ton of time to play around with my camera, but now that I’ve moved and I have more space for fun hobbies like this, the learning curve will be drastic.

Admittedly, I haven’t posted a recipe in a while. I hope this one makes up for it. I seriously miscalculated how much time and energy moving would suck out of me. We’ve been living at the new (totally awesome) apartment for a little over a week now, and the creativity and motivation is just starting to trickle in again.

Chili Blackened Salmon

Chili Blackened Salmon

Chili Blackened Salmon, done in 15 minutes with 5 ingredients.

I’ve got to be honest with you – whenever I come up with a fantastically delicious recipe that requires 5 ingredients or less, I get a little giddy.

I started a tag solely to keep my 5 ingredients or less recipes together and easily searchable. I know I’ve talked about it before, but I truly love and appreciate simple recipes because they showcase how delicious and easy healthy eating can be.

Beyond that, this recipe features salmon. I’ve become obsessed with salmon recently. I have about 5 recipes to test out for salmon alone…luckily, summer is the perfect time for seafood, so you can expect to see a lot of seaside meals filling up my recipe index.

Buttery Balsamic Roasted Cabbage

Oh yeah, I’m back!

This week’s recipe is another incredibly simple recipe, but I couldn’t help but share it after making it multiple nights in a row. It’s safe to say that I enjoy recipes that are stupid easy. Too many people think that healthy eating (especially veggie the part of the equation) is boring, but experimenting with fats, sauces, and spices is what makes clean and healthy food uber awesome.

I find these kinds of kitchen experiments exciting. It’s why I enjoy cooking. I know not everyone will discover they like roasted cabbage like I do, and maybe the spices aren’t for everyone, but part of why I share these easy recipes is to show how simple good food can really be!
